University resumption in sight as FG orders the reopening of NYSC camps on NOV 10.
Ever since the advent of the pandemic (Covid-19) that plunged the world into a state of mass hysteria right from March, many activities and sectors of the economy were put on held, education activities Inclusive.
In the Nigeria Education sector, schools, Universities and NYSC camps have been on lockdown since March, nearly 8 Months.
On March 18, the management of NYSC had temporarily suspended the orientation course for 2020 Batch A Stream One in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus among corps members.
Similarly, on March 20, NYSC had postponed biometric clearance and community development service (CDS) for all its corps members.
At the time, the scheme had asked all the 2020 batch A stream 1 corps members to proceed to their places of primary assignment.
It told corps members that “they shall be invited back to the orientation camps when the situation improves, just like it happened a few years ago when the nation was confronted by the Ebola virus threat”.
However, on Oct 15, the Minister of Youths and Sports says the National Youth Service Corps orientation camps will open on November 10.
He took to Twitter on Thursday to express this claim and further said Covid 19 protocols will be made available and enforced when the camps reopen.
He tweeted “ The resumption of the NYSC orientation camp for prospective youth corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced,”
Following this progressive changes to the National Youth Service Corps, there’s no doubt that Federal University resumption is in sight.
However, there have been speculations that there’d be a meeting between ASUU and FG tonight to discuss the ongoing prevalent strike.
