ASUU strike: “I want to go back to school to achieve my dreams” – Student says as he stages solo protest along airport road

Tired of staying at home for several months due to the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, a student simply known as Ife has staged a solo protest to drive home his demand for schools to resume.

The young Abuja-based student with Twitter handle @Dr_Ife went out to stage a protest along the airport road in the nation’s capital.

Committed to ensuring that he goes back to the lecture room, Ife revealed that he is protesting alone because he wants to go back to school to achieve his dreams.

He shared photos of himself holding up a cardboard with the inscription; “STOP PLAYING TABLE TENNIS WITH MY FUTURE.END ASUU STRIKE”

He posted the images with the caption;

“ASUU! ASUU!! ASUU!!!

“I am at airport road now and I’m doing this alone. ASUU and FG pls I want to go back to school to achieve my dreams. #EndASUUStrikeNow”

Meanwhile, ASUU, has cried over refusal of government to pay salaries, advising members to immediately seek alternative means of survival.

Abuja zone of the Union at a press conference on Tuesday at the University of Abuja campus, accused the federal government of not showing commitment in addressing pertinent issues and bringing an end to the continued strike action.

This was also as the union vowed to press home its demands until government bows, asking students and parents not to expect any possible resumption of universities soon.
