Following the last publication that generated good reactions from all stakeholders of the university, the security department took a step forward to ensure the safety of students and staff of the university. A meeting was held with the various commercial motorcycle associations where the issue among others was related to them. All the commercial motorcycle associations assured the security unit of their total cooperation in our collaborative effort to fish out perpetrators of the evil deed: this they assure by immediately raising a task force to hunt down the perpetrators
Another important step that we took was to immediately kick start the process of ensuring that all registered commercial motorcycles plying the campus and its immediate environment wear beeps with corresponding tag number as registered with the university. The compulsory use of beeps commences by the mid of April.
We however, advice students not to board any commercial motorcycle either on campus or at campus gate without an approved and tagged beep. Students are encouraged to report defaulting or suspicious motorcycle riders to the nearest security post or using the OAU security hot numbers. We are appreciative of the collaborative effort we have received in stemming crime in the community and we look forward to more.
