Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is largely known and recognized for her academic excellence Nationwide. Notwithstanding, OAU is known for its amazing structures which earned it the title Africa’s Most Beautiful Campus.
Despite the rigours of academics undergone by most students, they still make out time to engage in different social activities, probably to fulfil the saying “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”.

Moreover, these social activities are held in different EVENT CENTRES within the campus.
OAU (usually called a community) has a lot of event centres. But for the purpose of this article, we will be focusing on five most used event centres in OAU.
If you are one that has never visited OAU campus before, you can imagine how large the campus is from the amount of people these event centres can contain, from this article. Come along with me as I take you through OAU campus in a short while.
- Oduduwa Hall: This hall is located at the centre of the campus with a seating capacity of over 1500 people. It is known for holding concerts, shows, conferences, inaugural ceremonies and many more.
- Amphi theater: A 5,000 seaters’ capacity built alongside Oduduwa Hall at the centre of the university. It is also known for holding matriculation ceremonies, shows, concerts and few seminars.
- Awovarsity Hall: This hall is owned by the Cooperative society of OAU. An event hall for special events, especially award winning ones. It has over 500 seaters’ capacity.
- OAU Park Conference Hall: It is located beside the university’s computer science and centre. It has about 350 seaters’ capacity. It is used for holding meetings, conferences, seminars and many more.
- Pit theatre: This is situated within Dramatic arts department. Plays that are meant to be staged, cultural displays, etc happen there. Also, departments freshers’ party, dinners, variety nights and many more are held there.
