Martin Luther King Day is celebrated every third Monday in January to commemorate his impact on the U.S. Dr. King was a pastor, Civil Rights leader, and one of the most beloved figures in the world. He dedicated his life to achieving racial equality.

Martin Luther King day is a federal holiday in the United States marking the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. It is a holiday to honour the achievement of Martin Luther King Jr,a baptist minister and civil rights leader who advocated for non violent resistance against racial segregation.It is sometimes called MLK Day,it is to recognize the birthday of the famed civil rights leader. It is observed every year on the third Monday of January, despite King’s actual birthday being January 15.

Martin Luther King Jr was born 15 January 1929,Atlanta, Georgia,United States.His parent were Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King.He had two siblings the are A.D king and Christine King Farris.He was born Micheal Luther King Jr.,but later had his name changed to Martin. He was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the American civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.He married Coretta Scot in 1953 and gave birth to Yolanda,Martin,Dexter and Bernice.

King advanced civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. King participated in and led marches for blacks’ right to vote, desegregation, labor rights, and other basic civil rights.He was married to Coretta Scot and he had two kids

He died April 4,1968 but he was assassinated. He died at the age of 39.On April 4, 1968, James Earl Ray killed him with a single shot fired from his remington rifle, while King was standing on the second-floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis at 6:01 p.m.He was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he died at 7:05 p.m.
