College Scholarships

The University of Ottawa is proud of how many different kinds of students come from all over the world. This scholarship is available to international students from African countries who are studying in English, have an admission average of at least 80%, and are enrolled in one of the undergraduate programs in the faculties of Engineering, Science, or Social Sciences. The scholarship is renewable for two years. Depending on the program each year, the excellence scholarships can cut their tuition fees by $17,500 to $25,000, and the entrance scholarships can cut them by $12,000 to $20,000, depending on the program.

All students who qualify for this scholarship will get it when they start school. It will go right into their tuition costs.

Coverage of Scholarships

This scholarship will give new students with a four-year scholarship that will pay a portion of their university tuition costs for the first year of their studies.


Eligibility Standards

All qualified students will be considered for this grant and notified during the admissions process. While there is no application fee for this award, candidates will be required to present proof of citizenship from an African country or territory prior to receiving their first installments.

The applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • International students must possess a valid study permission.
  • Possess citizenship from one of Africa’s countries;
  • Be freshly admitted to one of the undergraduate programs listed below that are offered in English or with a French Immersion option.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time program; and
  • To be eligible for the Entrance scholarship, applicants must have an admission average of 89.99 percent or less when converted to our grading scale.
  • For the Excellence scholarship, you must have a minimum admission average of 90% when adjusted to our grading scheme

  • First and foremost, the student must submit an application here:
  • The University would then receive the application and generate a Student Number, which the prospective student would then use to connect to the school’s portal, UOZone, and submit their results and supporting documentation for review and consideration.
  • A conditional admission offer will be extended to them, which will include the scholarship if they achieve a satisfactory grade point average following the successful review.
