Institutions Football League (HIFL),an asset created and managed by Pace Sports and Entertainment Marketing Limited,founded in 2017.
Is an annual football competition for higher education institutions in Nigeria, opened to all member universities of the Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA).The games except the final 4 are played in the campuses of participating schools of which winners of the league are scheduled to represent Nigeria at the summer universiade of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

In the just concluded qualifiers for the 2022 contest in the round of 16 draws,here is the results for each institutions:Fuoye Cascades (13points),LASU blazers (12points),OOU gatekeepers (11),LCU Gladiator (10),UI pioneer (10),Lautech hunters(0),Elizade czars(0),EKSU mountaineers (14),OAU giants (13),TASUED lectors (13),Unilag Marines (11),Uniosun Lakers (6),ABUAD stars(3),FUTA tigers(0).
LASU with 12 points was unjustly picked ahead of OAU with 13 points as the favorable wild card team.

One of the NUGA staffs stated that :’HIFL had three wild cards like in every other events as based on various factors, including but not limited to sponsor’s choice which are___Accesibility,Fan base, University Vice Chancellor’s readiness to host and least of all points attained.
Obafemi Awolowo University’s football team (OAU GIANTS) calls for quick intervention from the NUGA and HIFL officials against the grave injustice done to the team,as the team duly earned their place in the competition for the round of 16 of the competition of which the organizers had denied them their rightful position.

Also, the “OAU GIANTS” , proven by the last NUGA preliminary had been the best in accessibility,fan base and readiness to host, so this should not be the reason for the injustice.
The team requested the officials to make corrections, and rectify the injustice by placing the team to it’s rightful position: to avoid throwing away the integrity of the games for the promotion of grass root sport for a better Nigeria.
