Two Injured As Bandits Attack Buhari’s Convoy In Katsina

Garba Shehu, The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity confirmed the attack on the convoy of President Muhammad Buhari. This happened last night. Shehu explained that Buhari’s advance team alongside other personnel like the security guards, protocol and media were in the convoy car when they were attacked. The incident took place in Dutsinma, Katsina while the convoy was on a presidential trip to Daura as President Buhari is expected to arrive at his hometown, Kastina for the celebration of Sallah. 

Shehu said, “The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy. “

The president’s spokesman, Shehu revealed that two people sustained injuries and were receiving treatment already while the other personnel and staff made it to Daura safely. 

Before the incident, bandits had ambushed and killed an Assistant Commissioner of Police ACP, Aminu Umar Dayi, in charge of Dutsinma Area Command in Katsina. Yesterday, suspected terrorists had also attacked the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, but were repelled by security agents, who bashed their plan.

This morning, Umar Abubakar confirmed the attack on Kuje prison, stating that the armed squad and security agencies had fought back to resist the attack. 

“I wish to confirm that about 2200hrs, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje in the Federal Capital Territory,” Umar said. He also cited that details will be made available soon to the public.
