Yesterday came with Eid, heavy rain and a circulation of a video of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s convoy being attacked.
In the video, hoodlums were seen running with sticks and cursing out loud at the convoy as they drove hurriedly past the crowd. After this event came jubilation as they celebrate their victory. This video was purported to be an event that took place at Osogbo Eid Praying Ground.
The Chief Press Secretary to Oyetola, Ismail Omipidan, informed the public that the video in circulation was of an incident during during the nationwide #EndSARS protest that took place in 2020 not of the Eid Mubarak celebration.

He stated that the video was a scheme that indicated the fear of the opposing party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), of the imminent defeat on the July 16th Governorship election. Omipidan stood firmly that the Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, was not attacked on Eid praying ground.
Here’s a part of the statement Omipidan released titled: “Osun PDP agents spreading fake video”:
“The video is being circulated by unscrupulous agents of the sinking PDP in Osun, in further demonstration of their political desperation. The PDP should know that there’s no amount of lies and propaganda that can make its candidate win the forthcoming governorship election. “
“For the avoidance of doubt, the said video in circulation is that of an incident during the 2020 nationwide #EndSARS protest. There was no attack on Governor Oyetola’s convoy or on any individual before, during and after the Eid prayers on the Osogbo praying ground.”
