The chairman of ASUU, from the Federal University of Technology, Minna Chapter, Dr. Gbolahan Bolarin confirmed the decision of the National Executive Council of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities to hold a meeting on the first week of August ( July 30 or August 1)
The purpose of the meeting is to make decisions whether to suspend the strike or continue with the strike.
Dr. Bolarin stated that ahead of the meeting, there is no possibility of ruling out the strike.

The union insists on the release of the White paper of the visitation panels to Universities and the release of revitalization funds for the development of Universities among other demands.
ASUU Strike is in its sixth month, the NUC admonished Vice Chancellors to support the ongoing efforts by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu to stop the ongoing strike.
“Universities education is fundamental to success and nation’s economy. Nations explore teaching, research, and community development for aspirations of goals” Prof. Rasheed said.
Professor Abubaker Rasheed, the Commission’s Executive Secretary, commented in a retreat with Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, lamenting how the strike has affected the universities negatively.
After the opening of the retreat some of the Vice Chancellors accompanied Rasheed to a stakeholders meeting on ASUU Strike. The results of the meeting are yet to be disclosed.
