Black Panther 1 was one of Marvel’s most popular movies and it is very easy to see why. It has a great storyline, great characters, awesome soundtrack, and it specifically resonated with the black community. We saw five African tribes warring over the Wakandan highly valued Vibranium. It showed us how T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) ingested the Vibranium-rich heart-shaped herb to gain superhuman abilities resembling that of a black panther to become the black panther, ruler of the Wakanda kingdom. We also saw T’Challa fiercely battling his rival -and at one point dying at the hands of, Killmonger over the throne and control over the Vibranium mineral resource before he eventually conquered him.
The film director stated that the cast and crew had put their love for Chadwick into the making of the second sequel of the movie. The marvel cinematic universe and the world lost Chadwick in 2020 after battling cancer for about 4 years. May his soul rest in power.
After watching the trailer of black panther 2 which was renamed black panther: Wakanda forever, there can only be a few conclusions we could draw from there but considering it is a marvel movie and it is to be written and directed by Ryan Coogler, we’re sure excited and ready for many pleasant surprises they might have in store for us. However, before that, we’d like to share with you 7 things we’re expecting from the second sequel of the Black Panther movie.

1. Shuri’s role:
At the end of the trailer, a clip of a feminine figure in the black panther suit is shown and speculations have pointed to only one person who it could be, Shuri, the princess of Wakanda and the sister of the black panther. Will Shuri be our next black panther? We are as excited as you are to find out if Wakanda will now have her very first female Black Panther.

2. Ramonda’s tenure as Queen:
The movie trailer started with a funeral for T’Chala where we saw “The king lives and the panther… forever in us…” painted on a mural of T’Challa and written in wakandan letters. Ramonda takes over the throne and later delivers an highlight scene where she cried and said “I am the Queen of the most powerful nation in the world and my entire family is gone,” leaving fans of the movie wondering if Shuri also meets a tragic end somewhere in the movie.
3. The war between Wakanda and Atlantis:
Atlantis is the home of the Atlanteans, a race of superhumans who live underwater and has been a major part of the MCU for a long time. The trailer shows us how Namor, the king of Atlantis, and his forces launched an attack on the shores of Wakanda whose people looked like they were still mourning the loss of maybe T’Challa. An all-out war between Atlantis and Wakanda is highly anticipated with incredible action scenes. Namor is a big-time rival of the black panther and the whole of Wakanda according to the comics because of the struggle over Wakanda’s treasure, vibranium.

4. Chadwick Boseman’s (Tchala) scene:
Many viewers are looking forward to the probability of seeing the Marvel legend, Chadwick Boseman in one of the scenes in the movie but the writer and director has announced that they will neither be recasting the role of T’Challa nor having a CG Chadwick for the Black Panther 2 in order to honor the memory of the legend.
5. Ryan Coogler’s brilliant writing:
The writer and director of the first sequel has returned to write and direct the second sequel and the viewers are looking forward to the creative way he intends to write and direct the movie around the fact that Chadwick Boseman will not appear in the movie and the role of T’Challa will not be recast. It is safe to say that it is his genius writing and brilliant direction that birthed the legend of T’Challa in the first sequel and we’re looking forward to seeing a higher level of brilliance from him.
6. Shuri as Ironheart’s mentor:
The trailer also shows us the debut of Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) also known as Ironheart. According to the comics, ironheart is a teenage genius girl who was trained by ironman and had a suit similar to ironman’s suit. The trailer shows us Shuri greeting ironheart in the wakandan tech lab and a brief display of Riri forging her armor and punching a heart shape from a sheet of iron.
7. The honoring of Chadwick Boseman’s legacy:
The makers have changed the name of the second sequel from black panther 2 to Black panther: Wakanda forever and refused the recasting of the role of T’Challa to honor the legacy of the marvel legend. We’re however looking forward to how the honoring of the bright man’s legacy will translate into the essence of the movie.
If you haven’t seen the trailer of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, here’s it:
If you’re a fan of the black panther movie then you should also be excited about what is about to hit us. The first sequel was a great movie and I have no doubt that the cast and production team have put in extra efforts to make sure the second sequel is an even better movie. I can’t wait for it to be out on the 11th of November. About time we chanted “Wakanda forever!”
