Share

The Students’ Union has been trying to ensure that the occupants of Maintenance Hostels have access to stable electricity for weeks and have recently announced that this will soon be made possible.

In a circular broadcasted yesterday, the Student’s Union of Obafemi Awolowo University assured the occupants Maintenance Hostels that electricity will be restored early next week.

It reads:

“The days of darkness are set to be over in Maintenance hostels, as the hostels will now enjoy electricity on a capacity that is twice the size of the previous transformer. Previously, the hostels were powered by a 500 kVA transformer but now this has been doubled. A 500 kVA transformer has been brought today, Thursday, 4 August 2022, to the hostels and another one of the same capacity is to be brought tomorrow, Friday, 5 August 2022, giving the hostels a 1000 kVA power source”.

In their mission to correct and fix the inadequacies of the hostels, the Union stated that they are also pushing for a better road network within the hostels.
