Osun Governorship Tribunal Rips Adeleke , Declares oyetola Winner of July 16 2022 Election

The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo has sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke as the duly elected governor of the state and declared th  All Progressives Congress’ (APC) candidateAdegboyega Oyetola the winner of recently concluded Osun governorship election, after annulling the results of the July 16 poll.

The ruling, delivered by Justice Tetsea Kume, stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not comply with the constitution and the Electoral Act. The result was adjusted based on over-voting, with Oyetola declared the winner with 314,921 votes and Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, receiving 290,266 votes.

we could recall that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the election with 403,371 votes while Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came in second with 375,027 votes.

The tribunal ordered INEC to withdraw Adeleke’s certificate of return and issue one to Oyetola as the winner of the majority of lawful votes. A minority decision by one judge is still being read.
